Timing, week 1

Our in-class discussion topic for the week of September 2 will be Timing.  This will be our topic throughout the month of September.  During our lessons this week, we will talk about Timing in terms of how important it is to provide help to someone as soon as possible.  Our in-class discussion lesson for this week follows below:

“There is no wrong time to do the right thing.” — Charles M. Blow (Journalist)

What do you do when you see something happen that is not right?  Do you wait for someone else to get involved, and take charge of the situation?  Many of us do.  Sometimes, people will see that someone else is injured, and do nothing.  This can often happen because we’re just not sure what the right thing is to do, and we don’t want to make the situation even worse — so we end up not doing anything to help.  If you can provide help, it is important to do this as soon as possible — don’t wait.  This is about timing.  If a situation is to big for you to handle on your own, find help right away.

Discussion Questions:

1)  What would you do if you saw someone being bullied at school?

2)  If you don’t know how to help someone who is hurt, who would you call or tell?

3)  How long should you wait to tell someone?

Please share your answers to these questions, and your thoughts about Timing, with our school community by using the form below.
