Thankfulness, week 2

During our lessons this week, we will talk about how learning and mastering a difficult new skill can inspire our Thankfulness.  Our in-class discussion lesson for this week follows below:

“Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations” — unknown author

In our karate training, the challenges and difficulties we face helps us to be more appreciative of our accomplishments.  When we are taking our Promotion Exams, as we are this week, we have spent many weeks preparing ourselves.  We have come to our lessons, and worked hard together to learn new skills.  We have also worked hard to strengthen and develop our master of the skills we already know.  The time and effort we have invested, and the challenges we have overcome, help us to be thankful for what we have accomplished in our training together.  Our Promotion Exams and Graduation are both ways for us to take a good look at the things we have accomplished, to appreciate and be thankful for them.

Discussion Questions:

  1.  What is a new skill we have been working with over the past few weeks that you have found particularly difficult?
  2.  Was it harder than putting on a hat?
  3.  How did you feel when you started to get this skill working better?

Please share your answers to these questions, and your thoughts about Thankfulness, with our school community by using the form below.
