We will begin our discussion of Thankfulness in our lessons this week. During this first week, we will be talking together about how and why we show Thankfulness in our lessons together. Our in-class discussion lesson for this week follows below:
“What if, today, we were just grateful for everything.” — Unknown.
The Thanksgiving Holiday coming up at the end of this month is a reminder for all of us to be thankful in both small and large things in life. How do we show this in our karate lessons? We formally bow in and bow out together at the beginning and end of our lessons. We also bow to our partners as we work together in our lessons. Our bow is how we show courtesy and respect, but it also is a way of being thankful. We show our gratitude to our instructors and our fellow students for the opportunity to learn and grow together when we bow.
- When we bow in together at the beginning of a lesson, what are we thankful for?
- When we bow out together at the end of a lesson, what are we thankful for?
- When we bow to our training partner during our lesson, what are we thankful for?
