During our lessons this week, we will talk together about how Success means accomplishing a goal or purpose. Our in-class discussion lesson for this week follows below:
“Don’t wait for the ‘perfect time’ — you will wait forever. Always take advantage of the time you are given, and make it perfect for you.” — Daymond John (Author and Entrepreneur)
When we talk about ‘success’, what do we actually mean by this? Success is the accomplishment of a goal or purpose that we have set for ourselves. What we count as success will depend on what special purpose we have. When we set ourselves the goal of earning our Black Belt, the day we earn our 1st Dan will certainly count as success. This is a big goal, and we’ll have ups and downs along the way — things won’t always go perfectly for us. As Daymond John says, we take the time we’re given, and make it perfect. When we make up our mind to go into every karate lesson with focus, energy, and enthusiasm — we make our best effort every time — we can count each lesson as a success along the way to our goal of Black Belt.
- What is an important goal you have set for yourself?
- What do you think will count for success in accomplishing this goal?
- Is earning your Black Belt something that just happens to you, or is it something that you decide to make happen?
