During our lessons this week, we will be talking about the role Sharing plays as a part of our martial arts training. Our in-class discussion lesson for this week follows below:
“it’s not what you give, it’s the way you give it.” — Bruce Lee (author, teacher, martial artist, actor)
As we’ve discussed sharing together over the past few weeks, we’ve talked about the ways in which we share with each other during our karate lessons. How we share with each other is also important — that we should treat other people with courtesy and respect. If we’re holding a target or a shield, we should pay attention to what we are doing, and make our hold as steady as possible. If we’re practicing a one step with a partner, we should be careful that we don’t accidentally hit them with one of our strikes or kicks.
- Who can demonstrate the right way to hold a shield?
- Who can demonstrate the right way to hold a clapper target?
- Who can demonstrate the right way to perform a haymaker attack?
