Inspiration, week 3

We will continue to talk about Inspiration during our lessons this week.  We’ll be talking about the ways in which careful listening can inspire us.  Our in-class discussion topic for this week follows below:

“The quieter you become, the more you can hear.”  Ram Dass (author and teacher)

Have you heard the saying, “We have two ears and only one mouth, so we should listen twice as much as we should talk?”  Do you think there is some truth in this?  None of us knows everything — but we can learn a great deal by paying attention and listening.  As Ram Dass says, the quieter we become — the less we talk — the more we can hear.  None of us knows when we will hear something that will inspire us.  A few simple words can unlock a new karate technique for us — or help us understand a new math problem in school.  But we have to be willing to become quiet, and listen.

Discussion Questions:

1)  Is it ok to ask questions when you need information?

2)  Should you listen to the answers?  Why?

3)  Do you feel you are a good listener?

Please share your answers to these questions, and your thoughts about Inspiration, with our school community by using the form below.
