Inspiration, week 3

During our lessons this week, we will talk about some definite things we can do during our karate lessons to be an Inspiration to our fellow students.  Our in-class discussion lesson for this week follows below:

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” — John Quincy Adams (diplomat, U.S. Senator, Secretary of State, President of the United States, U.S. Congressman)

Inspiration:  How we can inspire others.

Act and Show.  Get out there and do something that will inspire others — and yourself.  During our karate lessons together, we can be an inspiration by consistently making our best effort.  Doing our best, even when it isn’t perfect, helps inspire other students around us to do their best.

Provide others with the blueprint.  Especially when you are a more experienced student, less experienced students may ask you for advice — they’ll want to know how you do a certain strike, kick, or takedown.  Be prepared to share your method — how you do it, in small parts.

Discussion Questions:

  1.  How do you act and show yourself as an inspiration to others?
  2.   Have you ever asked a more experienced student for advice on how to do something?
  3.   Has another student ever asked you for your help and advice?

Please share your answers to these questions, and your thoughts about Inspiration, with our school community by using the form below.
