Humility, week 2

We will continue our discussion of Humility together during our lessons this week.  We will be considering how Humility helps us see ourselves as part of a bigger picture.  Our in-class discussion lesson for this week follows below:

“The wise person possesses humility.  He knows that his small island of knowledge is surrounded by a vast sea of the unknown.” — Harold C. Chase

Humility:  recognizing our place in the big picture.

Once we are able to put aside our own pride, we can begin to see our achievements and talents in their proper context.  We recognize that many others have contributed to our success, and we develop an “attitude of gratitude”.  This attitude helps us to understand our own place in the fabric of life — a place that has been influenced by many others, and that will influence many others.

Discussion Questions:

1)  What can we do to develop a sense of humility?

2)  Who has contributed to your accomplishments?

3)  Who have you helped to accomplish something?

Please share your answers to these questions, and your thoughts about Humility, with our school community by using the form below.
