Generosity, week 1

We will be discussing Generosity in our lessons together during the month of December.  During our lessons this week, we will talk about some of the ways we experience the Generosity of others toward us.  Our in-class discussion lesson for this week follows below:

“Real generosity is doing something nice for someone who will never find out.” — Frank A. Clark (U.S. Congressman)

Generous people are able to see the needs of those around them, they have compassion for others.  Generosity also allows us to see the potential that other people have, and want to help them achieve that potential.  Generosity prompts us to offer our time and talents to help others.  Think about your parents and your teachers.  They are very generous in offering you their time, skills, knowledge, and patience to help you to learn and to grow.  We should remember their example when we have the opportunity to be generous to others in our turn.

Discussion Questions:

  1.  What is one way in which your parents or your family are generous to you?
  2.  What is a way one of your teachers is generous to you?
  3.  How do you think you could be generous to another student in our karate lessons together?

Please share your answers to these questions, and your thoughts about Generosity, with our school community by using the form below.
